- Will my existing SFTP client or script work?
- We'll confirm client compatibility through testing before early access. Tell us which clients or scripts you use so we can discuss your setup.
- How will SFTP authentication work?
- SFTP connections are planned to use SSH public keys. You'll be able to limit each connection to specific folders.
- Will everyone need an SFTP client?
- No. The planned web portal will let people upload and download in their browser. SFTP will be an additional option for clients and scripts that use it.
- Who will be able to access my files?
- Transfer is being designed around signed-in access and file and folder permissions. You'll choose who can access your files. Public download links aren't planned for the initial release.
- How large can my files be?
- File-size limits haven't been announced yet. If you need to send large files, include the sizes in your request so we can discuss your requirements.
- Where will my files be stored?
- Ironfang is a UK company. We'll confirm storage and backup locations, along with data-handling terms, before customer access opens.
- Will files be checked for malware?
- Malware scanning is planned for supported uploads. Files will stay unavailable while a scan is incomplete or if it fails. We'll confirm supported formats and scanning limits before access. A scan cannot guarantee a file is safe.
- Will I get shell access?
- No. The planned SFTP service is for file transfers only and won't include shell access.
